ABOUT THE HELICOPTER
R66 Turbine Utility
Class-leading reliability and precision
A key feature of the R66 Turbine Utility is its ability for external cargo operations. Equipped with an Onboard Systems cargo hook as standard, it can transport up to 1,200 lb (544 kg) of cargo.
This configuration increases the maximum total weight (helicopter + payload) to 2900 lb (1315 kg). Additionally, it provides greater operational flexibility - allowing solo flight from both the right and left pilot's seat, unlike many STC installations.
Standard security systems
The safety of overhead operations is a priority, so the helicopter is equipped with dedicated instruments, such as additional engine torque and gas temperature indicators and a hook load meter located at the left door. This allows the pilot to monitor key engine parameters while observing lift operations.
The design also includes energy-absorbing seats, a 4K cockpit camera and a crash-resistant fuel system to minimize the risk of leaks. In addition, the helicopter is equipped with a fuel level indicator, signaling about 12 gallons of fuel before reaching the 5-gallon warning level.
Thoughtfully designed cockpit for special tasks
The cockpit has been customized for utility operations with specialized controls, including an improved left cycle stick with hydraulic and radio switches, and a left general-pitch lever with a start button.
The pilot has full control over the external equipment thanks to electrical and mechanical load release systems on both sides and switches on the cyclic rods that activate the sub installations.
A load weighing system provides ongoing monitoring, and crew safety during open-door flights is enhanced by anchor points in the cabin for attaching belay lines or harnesses.
Operating parameters
The Utility version has been optimized for heavy use and minimized downtime. Life-limited components exceed 2,000 operating hours, the airframe structure has a TBO of 2,000 hours, and the engine has 2,000 hours or 3,000 cycles.
Due to the increased total weight, the operational range includes a maximum density altitude of 7,000 ft with a loaded helicopter weight of more than 2,700 lb.
