ABOUT THE HELICOPTER
O R44 RAVEN I / CLIPPER I
It's the perfect balance between cost and capability. The Lycoming O-540 carbureted engine with a carburetor heater assist system keeps operating costs low and reduces pilot workload. The Raven I and Clipper I are built with aluminum monocoque construction and a powder-coated steel truss - providing a lightweight yet durable structure. The streamlined hull improves speed performance and fuel efficiency.
Precise and smooth control is provided by hydraulic power steering, eliminating perceptible forces on the cyclic stick and overall pitch. The spacious cabin provides excellent visibility for all passengers, and the two-blade main rotor saves hangar space after landing.
Robinson's patented cyclic control system provides greater safety, comfort and ease of use:
- Minimizes the risk of interference from passengers or objects in the cabin,
- requires little physical effort, reducing pilot fatigue during long flights,
- eliminates the need for dual independent control systems, simplifying the design and reducing complexity.
The Clipper I model can be equipped with fixed utility floats that increase the safety of operations over water. The floats remain permanently inflated, increase the helicopter's empty weight by about 50 pounds (about 23 kg) and reduce cruising speed by about 10 knots.
